Teaching

Seeing what I’ve taught take root in someone’s life is one of my greatest joys.

Over the last twenty years, I’ve designed and taught everything from children’s chapels, to youth confirmation classes, all-ages devotionals for churches around the country, bible studies, and workshops on everything from church communications to digital ministry.

Most recently, the workshops and classes I’ve taught focus on embodied spirituality—how to be more present in the world to model Christ and serve others.

Compassion

Using the greatest commandment as a guide, we’ll explore how we love God, ourselves, and our neighbors with a grounded and compassionate heart. This four-week class combines teaching, personal reflection, spiritual practice and small group sharing as we explore the topic of compassion.

Self-Compassion

We often ignore the last few words of the greatest commandment: Love your neighbor as yourself. Why is it so hard to love ourselves as God loves us? In this three-week class we’ll examine the root of self-compassion, why it makes a difference to ourselves and serving others, and explore practices to activate compassion for ourselves.

Integrated Awareness

How often do we rely on our minds when making decisions or understanding the world? In Western society, we rely on our brains—or head knowing—for almost everything. In this three-part class, we'll examine our three centers of knowing—head, heart, and body—and begin the work of integration to be fully present to ourselves and in the world.

Braving the Wilderness

Belonging and connection are two key aspects leading a wholehearted, fulfilling life, but they are harder than ever to achieve in our fractured society. This class is based on the work of Dr. Brené Brown from her book Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone and is partnered with other works such as How We Learn to Be Brave by Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde.

Rule of Life

What we give our attention and support to grows. That is the intention behind this six-week class to design your own Rule of Life. We’ll take a fresh look at the Benedictine Rule and make it our own through the areas of prayer, scripture, hospitality, serving others, leisure, and praying the hours.
